Iran short animation ‘Blowing’ has claimed award at the 2nd Baku International Animation Festival.

Co-directed by Mahammed Zare and Raana Vaezi, ‘Blowing’ succeeded to win Best Original Screenplay for a Short Animated Film award at the event.

Besides ‘Blowing’ as a frontrunner at the festival, Iran had also a lineup of four other animations winning nom at Baku Festival, including ‘The Path’ and ‘The Mannequin’ by Babak Shahidi, ‘Anger and Blood’ and ‘Second Chapter’ by Nejla Noushirvani.

'Tani’ by Davar Najafi also received nomination in Best Short Animated Film (up to 20 minutes) section of the film event.

Iranian titles were picked up from among an impressive 268 submissions from 50 different countries.

Good to know that Iran filmmaker Zeynab Qorbani-Faryad served as one of the international jury members of the festival.

Her screenplay ‘The Nakhkesh’ won the Golden Boat certificate for Best Original Screenplay for a Short Animated Film in the 1st ANIMAFILM festival in Baku in 2018.

ANIMAFILM – Baku International Animation Festival aims to create an annual event that will delight the local and foreign audience and professionals, as well as promoting the development of animation art in Azerbaijan.

Baku International Animation Festival was held in the capital of Azerbaijan on October 18-20, 2019.
